Worship FAQ

Welcome to Worship at UniLu!
Here are a few things you might like to know:

Is this thing ever going to start?
  • Though our service is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM, people tend to roll in as late as 10:10 AM. If you get here at 9:45 AM, you might not see anyone other than the pastor. Don't worry; you are in the right place, people are on their way, and we will have worship. You will know the service is about to start when you hear the bell or the welcome.

I’m fidgety and like to have an escape route. Is that ok?
  • We want you to be comfortable here! You are welcome to bring your coffee with you to your seat, you are welcome to work on a craft project during the service, you are welcome to move your chair to somewhere more convenient. You are welcome.

What should I do with these small creatures I call my children?
  • If you have kids, know that they are welcome too! They may sit with you, hang out at the kids table with activities, or stay in the kids room across the lawn with our childcare provider. There is a changing table in the restroom in the other building.

If I gotta go, where do I go?
  • There are two all-gender restrooms behind the wall with the Gospel book and Pulpit. There is also another all-gender restroom in the building across the lawn.

How do I get some of that bread and wine?
  • The Eucharistic bread and wine is offered freely to everyone who wants it, including children. There is always gluten free bread as well as grape juice available; Just ask when you come forward. If you just want a blessing, you can indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.

How can I learn more?
  • If you're interested in learning more about UniLu or maybe just wanting to connect with someone from the church over coffee, please reach out.

Our church sits in an ancestral homeland of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. Christian colonizers forced their ancestors into missions and seized their land. We grieve the loss of indigenous lives, the destruction of indigenous culture, and the commodification of indigenous land. God calls us to a right relationship with this land and its past, present, and future caretakers. Muwekma neighbors are a sovereign people. May we live in solidarity with them and repair Creation with all.
