Love Each Other │ Community Life, Fellowship, Mutual Support

How do we find balance in a busy and hectic world? Family, friends, work, school, service, prayer, wellness, rest, and recreation all place demands on us. How do we restore to joy the activities that feel like chores? Where is God leading us through all of this?

We at UniLu face these questions in community together. We share food and stories to bring us closer together. We pray with and for one another as we discern God’s purpose for our lives. We find sources of accountability or mentoring that help us more forward in confidence.

Community Life at UniLu includes fellowship after worship every Sunday, a Congregational focus on Campus Ministry, Movie Nights, Game Nights, Storytelling Nights, Jazz Jamming Nights, an occasional Snow Trip, an occasional Surf Trip, Bird Watching, and more. (If your favorite thing isn't listed, contact the office to get a group or event started.)

Storytelling Nights

The Young Adults at UniLu gather on the second Sunday of the month (beginning in July) for a put-luck snacky-dinner and an evening of storytelling. You can read all about it on our Storytelling Night page, but the basic format is that we gather at 6 to eat and mingle, start telling stories at 6:45, and wrap up around 7:45. You are welcome to just listen if you don't want to tell a story. You'll find prompts on the Storytelling Night page.

Game Nights

A couple of our members have hundreds (literally hundreds) of games to share! We gather on the third Sunday of the month for Game Night - board games, card games, word games, kids' games, strategy games, all kinds of games! You are welcome to bring a game, a snack, and/or a friend, but you are also welcome to just bring yourself. It's a lot of fun! Join us next on June 17th. Contact Scott for details.

Movie Nights

In the summer, we sit out on the UniLu Green and watch movies for the whole family - think Disney, Pixar, and things like that. The popcorn machine is fired up, bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs, and come early to have a picnic, if you like. Other times of the year, when kids have earlier bedtimes, we might watch movies that inspire some discussion, some action, or some reflection. Check back here for a schedule of movies.

Jazz Jamming

Join us on the first Sunday of the month for a couple hours of jazz in the sanctuary, immediately following our Jazz Evening Prayer service. Bring an instrument or just come to listen. Contact Pastor Greg for details.

Mentoring Groups

Starting this fall, UniLu will be offering Mentoring Groups - regular, monthly gatherings of 3-4 students with mentors from the congregation. The monthly meetings will include food and drink, sharing of stories, dicussion of a topic, and prayer for one another. Watch this space for more information, or contact Pastor Greg.

Partners and Friends

Lots of people and groups call UniLu home. Here, you'll find a list of some of our space-use partners.

Our church sits in an ancestral homeland of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. Christian colonizers forced their ancestors into missions and seized their land. We grieve the loss of indigenous lives, the destruction of indigenous culture, and the commodification of indigenous land. God calls us to a right relationship with this land and its past, present, and future caretakers. Muwekma neighbors are a sovereign people. May we live in solidarity with them and repair Creation with all.
