Wooden Rainbow Banner

Welcome, in the name of Christ, to University Lutheran Church in Palo Alto...

  • Lenten Sunday service at 5:30 PM (PT)* - In Person & Online
We want the world to be a better place. We seek grace for all people and all creation. We work for justice and peace in all the earth. We desire to be closer to God and to one another. We aspire to be people who are changing the world for the better. We see the church as a movement, not an organization. We are the people of University Lutheran Church, and we are working, with each other and with God, to bring about a new way of life. Join us...

Christ is the incarnate Word of God, is present in our gathering, is attentive to our prayers, is calling us into service, is making peace and reconciliation among us, is leading us to justice, peace, grace, and love, and is the host of our weekly communion meal; Let there be no barrier to the table of the Lord.

This is a campus ministry congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, made up of students, staff, faculty, and alumni, as well as neighbors, singles, couples, families, friends, commuters, visitors, and seekers.

We are a community of... Believers, Doubters, Questioners, Explorers, Listeners, Speakers, Skeptics, Lovers, Scientists, Poets, Artists, Engineers, Wanderers, Wonderers, Sinners, Saints, Queer, Straight, Trans, Gender-Fluid, Color-Diverse, Immigrants, Natives, Confident, Curious, Confirmed, Concerned, Secure, Insecure, Activist, Contemplative, Overstretched, Overachieving, Young, Old, Broken, Restored, Marginalized, Connected, Radical, Traditional, Passionate, Persistent, Anxious, Hopeful, Open, and Children of God.

You are welcome here - welcome to bring your doubts, your hopes, your questions, your longing for community and honesty, your search for worship and connection - welcome to bring your real self. There is a place for you at this table. Wherever you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here. (For more of what we mean by "Welcome," click here & here.)

If you are searching for God or for a congregational community, or if you're not sure what you're searching for, I hope you will join us for worship, service, fellowship, and learning. You are most welcome here... Peace.

Our church sits in an ancestral homeland of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. Christian colonizers forced their ancestors into missions and seized their land. We grieve the loss of indigenous lives, the destruction of indigenous culture, and the commodification of indigenous land. God calls us to a right relationship with this land and its past, present, and future caretakers. Muwekma neighbors are a sovereign people. May we live in solidarity with them and repair Creation with all.
